StacheStrong Turns 8 and surpasses $7M of brain cancer research funded!

Reflection from our CEO and Co-Founder
I’ve poured my heart and soul into StacheStrong for 8 years. It all started with two brothers doing whatever they could after learning of GJ’s GBM diagnosis. Since then, it’s transformed into supporting countless individuals, families and communities…oh ya, and $7M of brain cancer research funded. It’s been quite a journey - one that I still say is just getting started.
Losing Geej at 30 years old in 2019 was crippling. It still is. I watch friends start families and climb further in their career and know he had that stolen from him. But we march on, just as he did every day during his 25-month battle. A battle he won. A battle that has supported people across the WORLD. That’s the power of a guy like Geej.
So what’s next? We’re continuing to double down on our marquee events, as well as further our marathon presence across the world. Providing opportunities to run major races, share stories and put meaning behind the miles is so impactful. I’ve watched the faces and reactions from so many as we’ve now provided this special experience for hundreds of people and it was all born from GJ’s love of running.
So we’re going back to our roots. I ran NYC in 2018 and Geej infamously took off his Optune device and ran the last 6+ miles with me. I vowed to never run a marathon again because it would be impossible to top that experience together, weeks before his recurrence and surgery #2. But that race was the start of a major movement. We raised $50,000+, kicked off our nonprofit, and made people realize what StacheStrong was about. It was also the first seed planted that has blossomed into what is now 100+ annual runners across NYC, Berlin, Boston, Chicago, Copenhagen, Dublin, Rome, Sydney, Tokyo, and more.
It’s time to plant the next seed. I’ll be running Boston in 5 short weeks on Monday, April 20, 2026 - this time with the goal to quadruple what we did in 2018 and raise $200,000+. Our goal is to be a Top 5 Fundraiser across the ENTIRE race to once again bring notice to our mission, impact and community of supporters. We’re currently #2 globally at $185,000+ raised and together we’ll look back at this race as another monumental stepping stone in the StacheStrong journey to what we hope becomes an annual partnership as an official charity partner of the Boston Marathon. You can help us get there!
I’ve had the joy of providing this opportunity for so many since 2018 and it’s time to dust off the running shoes and run for Geej, for all those we’ve lost, and all those we continue to rally around. There will certainly be one huge missing piece but I’ll have him right there alongside me again for the final 6 miles…until then, please consider donating through my marathon page in support of StacheStrong and brain cancer research!!!

Brain Tumor Awareness Month
Over the years we’ve shared the stories of others who have faced a brain cancer diagnosis during Brain Tumor Awareness Month (#BTAM) every day throughout May.

#BrewStacheStrong
The #BrewStacheStrong collaboration is bringing together communities across the country in support of a disease that impacts far too many people. Just like every 'Stache tells a story, every beer tells a story. It’s as simple as a brewery committing a batch size to benefit brain cancer research and we have now partnered with over 400 breweries. We've already started our outreach for the 2026 campaign, so if you would like to help or have a friend/contact in the beer/restaurant world, let us know.
StacheStrong Invitational
We are now accepting sponsorships and registrations for our 4th annual golf tournament on Monday, May 4, 2026 in Jupiter, Florida.
We have several sponsorship options available and foursomes are limited, so get involved today! If able to donate any items or experiences for the silent auction, please email us as we aim to raise $300,000 again at this year's event.
